PB’s villa in Cannes on the Côte d’Azur epitomizes a traditional Provencal villa. Spanning four levels, the villa features small, poorly distributed spaces despite its large size. It benefits from excellent lighting and is nestled in a peaceful, lush setting. The villa offers dual access—both pedestrian and vehicular. Light enters from two out of four sides, and there is a splendid terrace with a swimming pool.
PB, already our client from PB apt | Phuket, asked us to enhance every aspect of the villa, both interior and exterior. Internally, the villa needed to be refreshed, brightened, and made elegant. Externally, a complete restoration was necessary. PB gave us the freedom to proceed as we saw fit to achieve an elegant and functional outcome.
Given the difficulty of expanding the villa simply by knocking down internal walls due to varying heights, we opted to extend the facades outward.
Starting from the ground floor, we:
– Enlarged the living room by incorporating the original external veranda, creating a bright dining room with a table for 8/12 people.
– Expanded the kitchen to include a peninsula with a snack bar and a vertical wine cellar.
– Converted a built-in cupboard into a guest bathroom with a washbasin and toilet.
On the first floor, we:
– Created the Master bedroom by transforming a former bathroom and study into a bedroom and walk-in wardrobe.
– Designed a comfortable bathroom with direct access to the terrace and pool by converting a small balcony.
On the second floor, we:
– Designed a guest room with views of the hills and the terrace with pool, featuring an open bathroom with bath and shower, and an enclosed toilet.
On the top floor, we:
– Enlarged and completed the little girl’s bedroom by creating a comfortable bathroom with a glassed-in shower and converting the original balcony into a study corner.
Throughout the house, we maintained a neutral color palette to serve as a backdrop for displaying the client’s travel souvenirs. The renovation included changing all exterior fixtures, interior doors, flooring, roof restoration, walls, and stairs.
Externally, we:
– Replaced the entrance gate, garage gate, and main entrance door to match the villa’s design.
– Redesigned the garden, selecting new plants, retaining some old ones, and illuminating key features.
– Demolished old terrace walls to expand the terrace and added a grand staircase leading to the pool.
– Created a fixed panoramic bench between the stairs and direct access from the terrace to the owner’s bathroom.
– Added a poolside bathroom, a shower area, and an elegant partition for privacy.
– Redesigned the pool to include seating areas for various times of the day.
The villa’s facade was updated to align with the new design, providing a cohesive and elegant overall look.

Brightening Elegance: A Refined Restyle of a provencal villa

Giulia renovated both my houses: the first in Phuket in Thailand and the second was my family villa in Cannes in France. in both cases starting from scratch, from a completely reorganised interior into a delightful cosy flat in the case of Phuket to an elegant villa in the case of Cannes. Every single detail was carefully planned, such as electrical sockets everywhere needed, lighting and decorations in perfect modern style. In two words: two fantastic jobs! I am grateful to Giulia for these wonderful results. She made my houses precious and very cosy. I would highly recommend Giulia to anyone who needs to renovate or redesign their homes.
