Perched in the exclusive hills of Surin, Phuket, this expansive penthouse is part of a newly constructed development. It boasts one of the rarest and most breathtaking panoramic views of Thailand’s exotic landscape. The vast terraces offer iconic sunset vistas that make this region world-renowned. The client sought our expertise to enhance the exterior spaces and provide consultation for the interior, which features a panoramic lower level for the client, including a massive living room, guest bathroom, three bedrooms (each with en-suite bathrooms), and a master suite with a walk-in closet and study. The upper level houses staff quarters with two bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, large laundry rooms, kitchens, and storage spaces. The outdoor area includes a long pool with a stunning view and an additional, recently added large exterior space.

requirements
The client requested our assistance in two areas: refining the interior spaces initially designed by another firm and completely designing the outdoor areas, especially the newly added section. For the exterior, the client desired an Italian garden, specifically a Sicilian one, featuring lemon and orange trees, aromatic herbs like basil and sage, a BBQ area, and a bar.

Solutions
We provided interior improvement suggestions and focused primarily on the penthouse’s exterior design. We adorned the main terrace area with designer plant pots and lighting, selected superb outdoor furniture that complemented the interior and maximized outdoor enjoyment. Our garden design ensured not only aesthetic appeal but also a delightful olfactory experience, choosing plants to repel mosquitoes and others to provide continuous blooms.
In the designated Sicilian garden area, we designed everything from scratch, including an outdoor kitchen and BBQ area connected to the staff quarters, and even added a service bathroom. We crafted a small, innovative bar using the same materials as the interior finishes, and a custom-designed central table with a versatile central space for chilling drinks or converting into a small BBQ.
We built a beautiful pergola that follows the terrace’s layout, carefully managed elevation differences between cocktail, dining, and relaxation areas, and strategically placed trees to provide shade over the dining area during the day. Large perimeter pots filled with aromatic herbs added the final touch.
The result was exceptional: a luxurious residence with a Mediterranean terrace set against a stunning Thai backdrop.
