ENG | I love creating children’s bedrooms that combine beauty and organization. I propose high-quality materials and designs that grow with the child. Designing a children’s bedroom is one of the challenges I embrace with the greatest enthusiasm. For me, it’s not just about creating a visually pleasing space but crafting an environment that sparks imagination, ensures safety, and evolves with the child. Here, I want to share the five essential steps I follow to transform a bedroom into a unique and functional space, perfectly integrated with the rest of the home.

Propongo materiali di alta qualità, garantendo soluzioni che accompagnano il bambino nella crescita. Progettare una cameretta per bambini è una delle sfide che affronto con più entusiasmo. Per me, non si tratta solo di creare uno spazio esteticamente piacevole, ma di dar vita a un ambiente che stimoli la fantasia, garantisca sicurezza e cresca con il bambino. In questa pagina, voglio condividere con te i 5 passaggi essenziali che seguo per trasformare una cameretta in un luogo unico e funzionale, perfettamente integrato con il resto della casa. 

1 | THEME | versatile and durable

ENG | When designing a child’s bedroom, an original theme sets the tone and brings personality to the space. However, I believe the theme should also be flexible, evolving with the child’s changing tastes.

For instance, in Henry’s room at LM Villa in Phuket, Thailand, I crafted a vibrant jungle theme that felt immersive and playful. In contrast, for the SM Villa in Li Cuti, Catania, Italy, I reimagined the world of Snoopy with an elegant and sophisticated twist. Themes shouldn’t overwhelm the space. Temporary decorations, like plush toys or framed artwork, are ideal for growing children. For infants or toddlers, more permanent touches like wallpaper can be a worthwhile investment. A great example is the superhero-inspired bedroom I created for twins at the MB apt in Catania, where subtle design elements harmonized with the overall home’s aesthetic. Some of my favorite ideas include:

• LEGO-Inspired Theme: Modular furniture reminiscent of building blocks paired with vibrant decorations. 
• Space Adventures: Perfect for budding explorers, with starry-sky projector lamps.
• Gender-Neutral Themes: Reflect the child’s personality without relying on stereotypes.

LAVICA suggestion | Choose a versatile theme that isn’t overly specific, ensuring it can adapt as the child grows. Timeless colors like pastel or neutral shades, enhanced with bold accents and removable decorations, make it easy to update the style as needed.

1 | TEMA | versatile e duraturo

IT | Un tema originale è il punto di partenza per dare personalità alla cameretta. Tuttavia, credo sia fondamentale scegliere qualcosa di flessibile, capace di adattarsi ai gusti in evoluzione del bambino. Ad esempio, per Henry, nella LM Villa a Phuket in Thailandia, ho creato una giungla vivace e immersiva; mentre nella SM Villa a Li Cuti di Catania in Italia, ho reinterpretato il mondo di Snoopy con un tocco elegante e sofisticato. Il tema non deve essere invasivo. Prediligi decorazioni temporanee, come peluche o quadri, per bambini in crescita, e riservati di investire in elementi più duraturi, come carte da parati, solo per neonati o bambini molto piccoli. Ad esempio, nella cameretta dei gemelli progettata per l’appartamento di MB a Catania, i dettagli ispirati ai supereroi si integrano perfettamente nel moodboard dell’intera casa. Alcune delle mie idee preferite: 

• Tema LEGO: Con mobili modulari che ricordano i mattoncini e decorazioni vivaci. 
• Avventure Spaziali: Perfetto per piccoli esploratori, con lampade proiettanti cieli stellati.
• Temi gender-neutral: Per creare ambienti che riflettano la personalità del bambino, senza stereotipi.

LAVICA consiglio | Assicurati che il tema scelto sia versatile e non troppo specifico, così potrà adattarsi ai cambiamenti di gusto del bambino. A me piace utilizzare colori “intramontabili”, come tonalità pastello o neutre, arricchiti con dettagli vivaci e decorazioni removibili per aggiornare facilmente lo stile.

2 | FURNITURE | lamps that furnish and decorate

ENG | For me, safety is the top priority when designing kids’ furniture. My goal is to create pieces that are not only visually appealing but also secure and highly functional. For instance, in the LB Apt in Catania, I designed a circular wooden bed for Giulia—a perfect blend of style and protection.

3 | LIGHTING | the heart of atmosphere

ENG | Good lighting has a significant impact on both the functionality and the comfort of a room. Having multiple lighting options ensures the space can transition seamlessly between playtime, study sessions, and moments of relaxation. For Henry’s room, I added a personalized touch with a backlit sign saying “STAY WILD,” while a multifunctional chalkboard cleverly separated the sleeping and study areas.

LAVICA suggestion | Invest in dimmable lights and strategically placed fixtures, such as wall sconces and reading lamps. Don’t forget decorative lighting to enhance the atmosphere. Nella camera di Henry, una scritta retroilluminata “STAY WILD” ha aggiunto personalità, mentre una lavagna multifunzionale separa le aree notte e studio.

LAVICA consiglio | Investi in luci dimmerabili e punti luce strategici, come applique e lampade da lettura. For Andrea, in the SB Apartment in Catania, I replaced the TV with a projector, creating a relaxing and less intrusive space. For Virginia and Ginevra in the VDD Apartment in Bologna, I optimized their room to balance playtime and organization perfectly.

LAVICA suggestion | Each children’s room I design tells a unique story. Incorporate multifunctional elements such as beds with built-in desks or storage poufs to maximize utility. Rotating walls or surfaces designed for writing and drawing can nurture creativity. For a dynamic twist, consider adding climbing walls or other interactive features that adapt to the child’s evolving needs.

4 | DECORAZIONI | funzionalità e personalizzazione

IT | Personalizza la stanza con elementi pratici e versatili. Per Andrea, nell’SB Apt a Catania, abbiamo sostituito la TV con un proiettore, ideale per il relax e meno invasivo. Per Virginia e Ginevra, in VDD Apt a Bologna, abbiamo ottimizzato lo spazio per rispettare le loro esigenze di gioco e ordine.

LAVICA suggerimento | Ogni cameretta che progetto racconta una storia unica.
